Attached is my index to the main articles in our Newsletters.\u00a0 I hope it will be helpful especially if you are wishing to research a topic and wish to see what we have on it.\u00a0 Going through the Newsletters to compile it has been most interesting – I am so impressed by the scope, range, and amount of information we have as a resource, all achieved in 15 years!<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve listed it by subject, but you can\u00a0sort by author, if you wish to see all items contributed by a particular person. Quite a number of cross references have been included, to help with some topics which\u00a0feature in a\u00a0number of articles, eg, Auchencairn generally, the school, Rerrick Kirk. Dennis awarded a special certificate in recognition of his work for the Society<\/p>\n

S<\/span><\/span>ince the History Society was founded, in 2000, Dennis has been its\u00a0 guiding light.\u00a0 He has conducted extensive research, and written numerous articles, as well as contributing to the Monograph series.\u00a0He\u00a0 responded to\u00a0the many and various queries which arrive via our website from people seeking information about their family or other connection to this area, and who always received a prompt and helpful response. A major contribution has been his Editorship of the Newsletter, producing two editions every year with scholarly and meticulous regularity.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0 As well as editing he has contributed numerous erudite and interesting articles himself, and as our contributors often mention, has been of great help to others in their work for the Newsletter.<\/span>\u00a0 Now, Dennis has decided that the time has come when he must stand down from his post.<\/span>\u00a0 His many other commitments are leaving him with insufficient time to continue his work as Editor \u2013 though he will, I am sure, continue to delight us with articles and research such as his time permits.\u00a0 This photo was taken when a presentation was made to Dennis, as a ‘thank you’ for all his work for the Society.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/div>\n

The Annual General Meeting of the AHS took place in the Murray Hall on Thursday 11th May 2024. The minutes of that meeting will be made available shortly.

Family History Research<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Society receives quite a number of Family History enquiries from all around the world and the Society’s Archivist, Dennis Binns, is very often able to supply information to assist the enquirers with building their family tree.
